Why TMU Exists

Master’s continues to exist in order to develop wisdom, establish convictions and produce leaders. Since 1927, The Master’s University has transformed young people to have an impact for Christ in the world through marketplace ministry. Rooted in a commitment to the historic Christian faith from its inception, the university thrived under John MacArthur’s unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ and the inerrant Word of God. Through the last 35 years of his leadership, TMU’s world class faculty and dedicated administration, the school has prepared each students’ heart and mind through a Biblical liberal arts viewpoint for a life of eternal influence. 

A true Christian liberal arts education subjects every category of thought—language, logic, science, math, history, and society—to the lordship of Christ (cf. Acts 17:22-31; 2 Cor 10:3-5). It thereby helps students to understand the very fabric of reality, the way the world is according to God’s Word. TMU uniquely provides this education so that its students are equipped to make the best choices in all of life and lead a life that is meaningful before the Lord now and for eternity. With that, TMU’s role in raising up young people is more important than ever. In a workplace that increasingly demands creative solutions, TMU give its graduates an edge. Curricular and Co-Curricular

Offering 17 majors and over 60 emphases, TMU’s wide academic offerings allow for a student to prepare for life.  Master’s is one of the last remaining universities in the nation to hold firm to a literal six-day creation, holding true to its commitment to Christ and Scripture, upholding it above all else. 

With a vibrant and highly competitive intercollegiate athletic program, TMU continues to prepare athletes for life and professional sport careers.  The University has also been touted for its excellence in Music.  Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, TMU has a five-year average score of 94% in the nationwide Educational Testing Service (ETS) Major Field Test (MFT), a testament to the School of Music’s academic excellence and instruction that far exceeds classroom instruction.
